In the world of business, September is often considered to be the unofficial ‘New Year’… the busiest of all the annual quarters. But no matter how busy we are right now; we need to keep an eye on what we want in the future. Our desired results come from looking further down the road – five weeks, five months, five quarters or five years.

As business owners, most of us are scrambling to put out fires, keep clients happy and squeezing in precious moments of personal time where we can. We've all been there – procrastinating on getting started, or avoiding what may be complex, confusing or unclear.

Smart marketing ‘fitness’

Like going to the gym, the marketing you do consistently is what works.💪 But it requires commitment… an investment of time, energy and often money and it’s best for it to be scheduled into your day, week, month, and quarter. It takes time to be known, liked and trusted.

The analogy between marketing and physical fitness was brought home to me when I committed to training for a 21K walkathon earlier this year. I’ve walked my whole life, but I had no idea how to train efficiently, without injury, and achieve this stretch goal.🏃‍♀️!

I engaged a coach who provided a training plan, regular check-ins to answer questions, and who tweaked the plan along the way. My coach kept it real, and simple, just the way I like it. She broke it down into bi-weekly tips, timed for when I needed them. 😅

I had accountability, and most importantly, a cheerleader. The power of that support was immeasurable!
