And after months of being cooped up inside because of lockdown, where I live, there’s nothing like being active outdoors, enjoying the warm weather and sunshine. For many of us, that also means gardening, whether in our yard, or on our patio or balcony.
Planting and tending a garden is parallel in many ways to growing relationships with our best clients. They both take time and dedication. In business, we plant the seeds of opportunity, nurture the relationships that show potential, weed out the ones that are not a good fit, and plan for a future harvest based on where we are today.
That “harvest” is sometimes referred to as ROR – Return on Relationship. We’ve all heard of ROI – Return on Investment – a way to measure the profit or benefit we get in return for the money we invest. It’s all about dollars and cents. Return on Relationship is about the value that grows over time by nurturing a business relationship.
